The Egyptian-Sudanese trade relationship has deepened following the participation of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Industry in the International Khartoum Exhibition, which ran from 30 January to 6 February. The ministry announced that over 40 Sudanese companies requested to import Egyptian products.
Imported products are expected to be in the industries of food processing, textiles, chemicals and building materials.
A ministerial statement noted that the international trade department worked on promoting Egyptian products during the exhibition.
Fifi Awad, the head of the international trade department, said that the department had prepared and distributed an electronic catalogue featuring all Egyptian companies participating in the exhibition and their products.
Awad stated that all Sudanese and Arab businessmen participating in the exhibition were informed regarding Egyptian products that were not featured in the catalogue or present during the exhibition.
During his last week’s visit to the US, Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour met with US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vislack and US Trade Representative Michael Froman to discuss the future of bilateral trade and cooperation between the two countries.
