“I am not an analyst of Morsi’s trial, and I will defend him to for the sake of justice and for the provision of all guarantees for a fair trial of any defendant, whether Morsi or anyone else,” Qenawy told Youm7.

Qenawy added, “I do not belong to the Muslim Brotherhood and I have nothing to do with them, and during my whole life I was against the Brotherhood and Mubarak’s regime, but my political position is separate from guaranteeing the rights of the defendant.”

He said, “I support Mohamed ElBaradie and I was the coordinator of the National Association for Change, and I participated in June 30 Uprising against Morsi and the Brotherhood.”

Qenawy said that he would submit a request before the president of the Cairo Appeal Court to review the case file on Saturday. He added that he would review the case file but said it would be difficult for him to finish all 7,000 pages by the upcoming hearing on Feb. 23. He said that the rest of the delegated lawyers would defend the other defendants.
