North Cairo Criminal Court inspected the glass cage which is scheduled to hold ousted president Mohamed Morsi during his trial session Thursday, to make ensure the compartment is soundproof.
The trial is scheduled to start in the early afternoon at the court, where Morsi is facing charges of spying on the state in order to harm the interests of the country, as well as divulging secrets the defense of the country to a foreign country in participation with other Muslim Brotherhood leaders.
Morsi is also on trial for his escape from the Wadi al-Natroun prison in 2011 during the January 25 Revolution. In both of his trials, he has refused the legitimacy of the court as well of the interim government, and has insisted he was the legitimate president of Egypt.
The defendants’ cage, traditionally constructed of wire, has been replaced with soundproof glass for Morsi’s trials to prevent him from interrupting court proceedings.
