The deputy foreign minister in the Hamas government, Ghazi Hamad, said on Saturday that Egypt’s administration is displeased with a sit-in at the Rafah border on the Gaza side that for a week has been demanding a lifting of the siege on Gaza’s sector.
Hamad told Hamas’ Al Rai news agency that it is not logical for the Rafah crossing to be shut to citizens for 23 consecutive days, increasing the numbers of humanitarian cases, students and citizens who need to receive visas.
He asked Egyptian authorities to act responsibly toward Gaza, noting that communication with Egypt’s administration is ongoing to persuade Egypt to open the crossing on both sides.
