Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Mosque Ahmed al-Tayeb will receive Tuesday United Arab Emirates State Minister Sultan Ahmed Al-Gaber to discuss boosting cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Tayeb plans to announce the launch of Al-Azhar’s new library with a total floor area of 6,000 square meters. The new library is founded by UAE and includes Islamic, heritage, and scientific books which were kept by Al-Azhar institute.
Al-Gaber will inspect the workflow in the project of establishing residential units for Al-Azhar University’s students ahead of his meeting with Al-Tayeb. These units, which included four buildings, are designed according to the international standards. He added that each building covers an area of 3650 square meters.
The full support of UAE to the people of Egypt comes within the policy framework established by the state founder, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in order to implement the directives of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Al-Gaber said in press statement today.
Al-Gaber emphasized that the UAE is interested in boosting its cooperation with, and support to Al-Azhar in service to Islam and Muslims.
The UAE is keen on implementing the vision of Sheikh Zayed, who always stressed the intellectual and cultural role of Al-Azhar and its support to Islamic and Arab issues as well as the need for coordination among all countries in the Arab region and Muslim world in order to counter any attack on Al Azhar, he added.
