Since the revolution of January 25, 2011, the Egyptian people have been suffering from confusion between the reality and their high expectations. We are suffering from a state of blurriness that we can't see the difference between available and impossible expectations. Such gap should last for long time as long as we don't have an effective mechanism to turn our dreams into reality.
In order to change our reality, we, the Egyptians, have to realize the real size of our problems. For years, we behaved like an ostrich that buries its head in the sand, thinking that the hunter can't see her as long as she can't see him. All governments before the revolution did the same with many problems hoping that time would solve them. Now, we can't just ignore our problems, but we have to deal with them. The Egyptian people are expecting their government to tell them the truth. This is the first step to solve our problems.
Furthermore, we have to be honest with ourselves and stop cheating. The situation is bad and we have to realize that.
In order to solve our problems, we have to diagnose them first. Then, we should face the truth and accept the due pain to be healed.
Part of our problem in Egypt is that we use religion to escape from the harsh reality. They pray that God would solve their problems without their interference. Also, we always seek a hero to solve our problems using his magic wand! We believe that this man is Field Marshal Abdul Fatah al-Sisi and so much is expected from him. Perhaps this is the reason that made him hesitate to announce he will run for the presidency. He is so patriot and efficient, but he cannot solve the problems of Egypt alone.
That's why he decided to tell the Egyptian people the truth in his speech on Wednesday, March 4th, 2014. He said that the upcoming president won't be able to do anything without being supported by the Egyptian people, and we have to stop converting political conflict into a religious conflict.
I hope that everyone has got the message. Believing In God and trusting our leaders is so important. Yet, we have to find sources to financially support our rights that are stated in the constitution. Decent education, health care, housing and reliable transportation will cost a lot of money that we won't have except by hard working.
