Brotherhood students set on marches condemning Minya sentence

ِA court in Minya sentenced on Monday 529 Brotherhood-linked defendants to death over charges of involvement in the violence and riots that followed the ouster of Morsy last year.
 
“People demand the fall of the regime”, “kill me, detain me, won’t shut me up”, chanted the students who hoisted posters of the toppled leader.
 
A statement from the Interior Ministry, meanwhile, said a number of Brotherhood-linked students smashed the glass frontage of the administrative office of Zagazig University,damaged professors' vehicles and injured 12 students.
 
Security intervened after a request from the university's president an apprehended eight rioters.
 
Egyptian universities have been hotspots for violent clashes between Morsy supporters and security since the army removed the former president in July 2013.
 
Campus security agents intensified their presence at the university’s entrances and exits to block outsiders, searching students for potential possession of edged weapons that could be used in case of violence breakout.
 
Police also reinforced deployment at the nearby Nahda Square and the Giza Security Directorate in anticipation for protests.
