Clashes broke out Tuesday when Ain Shams University students threw rocks and flames at security forces present on the university’s perimeter.
This resulted in security forces dispersing the students’ protest while dealing with students with maximum restraint, according to a security source at Cairo Security Directorate’s statements to Youm7.
“Security forces stuck to maximum restraint and used only tear gas to disperse the students’ protests,” Deputy Head of Ain Shams University, Mohamed el-Toukhy told Al-Hayah channel. He also added that security forces did not engage with them until they threw rocks and flames at them.
However, students faced suffocation from the tear gas bombs used against them. Students began moving their colleagues to the university campus, and ambulances were on standby on campus, ready to transfer the injured students.
Further, Director of Cairo Investigations General Mohamed Qasem told Youm7 that a general received a small injury during the clashes, and was moved to the hospital for treatment. He added that security forces have been able to contain the clashes.
Meanwhile three students were injured in clashes at Cairo University between pro-MB students and other students. The clashes resulted in three students being injured in the head and neck due to random rock throwing between the two sides inside the university campus, according to Youm7.
