Monufiya police arrested an alleged terrorist cell belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood made up of eight members, state-run MENA reported on Sunday.
Police claim the cell funds all marches and demonstrations of the Brotherhood in Monufiya.
"They were planning to block roads, attack police cars, security forces and vital installations," said Monufiya Security Directorate Chief Major General Saeed Tawfiq Abu Hamad.
According to officials, the members of the cell called themselves the "Deterrence Battalion."
The suspects were arrested and the prosecutor is now handling the case.
