Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy met on Thursday 10/4/2014 with EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton.
The meeting took up the bilateral relations between Egypt and European Union as well as means of promoting cooperation in the political, economic, trade and financial domains, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Badr Abdul-Atti said.
He noted that Ashton stressed the importance of relations with Egypt and highlighted the significance of the meetings that Fahmy held in Brussels especially with the Europeans MPs.
Talked also tackled a number of regional and international issues topped by the Palestinian issue in the light of the Arab League extraordinary ministerial meeting on Wednesday, the spokesman said, noting that the two officials agreed that any extension for the deadline of the peace talks should be done within a specific timeline and linked to Israel's respect of peace process' terms of references and international legitimacy resolutions.
He said that the two sides also discussed the international negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program as well as the Syrian crisis and the necessity of rallying regional and international efforts for reaching a political solution for the crisis.
The spokesman added that Fahmy reviewed with the EU official the steps taken so far to implement the Egyptian roadmap.
