The Cairo Criminal Court resumed on Sunday the retrial of toppled President Hosni Mubarak, his sons Alaa and Gamal, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly, six former top deputies and businessman Hussein Salem over killing protesters during the 2011 revolution and financial corruption.
Major General Ahmed Ramzy, former deputy interior minister for the central security sector, is scheduled to present his case today in court. Ramzy's defense lawyers said orders had been given to disperse January 2011 protests with clubs, shields and tear gas only, suggesting that no orders were given for the use of firearms.
Mubarak appeared wearing a suit before the retrial session started and waved to the attendees.
