Egypt joins Bahrain air force exercise for 1st time

Bahrain is hosting a multinational air force training exercise, in which Egypt will participate for the first time, Bahrain's official news agency reported.

Egyptian and Jordanian delegations arrived in Bahrain within the past few days to partake in the aerial exercise, the agency said.
The joint exercise - held until May 8 - will also include aircraft from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Oman, Kuwait and Pakistan.
Bahrain has routinely held joint air force training exercises with multinational involvement since 1988.
Relationship between Cairo and Manama warmed up since last July's ouster of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, who hailed from the Muslim Brotherhood group.
Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia were among the first countries to welcome Morsi's ouster and support the new military-installed government.
In March, former defense minister and current presidential hopeful Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi – who played a key role in Morsi's ouster - led a high-profile military delegation for bilateral military training in Abu Dhabi.
