Health Minister Adel al-Adawi said in a press statement on Tuesday that he briefed the Cabinet of the Coronavirus situation in Egypt and other Arab countries.
The virus has spread widely in Saudi Arabia.
“We discovered one case of a patient coming from Saudi Arabia and admitted him into the Abbasiya Hospital,” the minister said. “And there are six other suspected cases.”
“We tightened control measures at both sea and air ports,” he said, adding that the virus causes significant respiratory problems.
The ministry has also been fighting the swine flu which has claimed dozens of lives since last December.
