Millions of eligible Egyptian voters, equal to nearly 54 million voters, will head to polling stations on Monday and Tuesday on the 26 and 27 May to cast their ballots in the 2014 presidential elections being contested by former Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Hamdeen Sabbahi.
The elections will begin at 9am and end at 9pm in 13,899 electoral committees under the supervision of about 16,000 judges belonging to different judicial bodies.
Three hundred and fifty-two general electoral committees nationwide will supervise the sub-committees under the PEC headed by Vice President of the Supreme Constitutional Court Anwar Rashad al-Asy.
Official delegations from the national election commissions of India, Mexico, Jordan and Nigeria were invited by the Egyptian government to monitor the electoral process.
“International participation, representing Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Arab world, reflects the keenness of the international community to monitor the implementation of the presidential elections as one of the most important steps of the road map,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel Aaty.
