An Egyptian soldier was shot dead by unknown attackers in Sinai's Rafah on Wednesday, security sources said.
The conscript died after receiving a shot to the chest while on duty.
Security forces began combing the area for the culprits after an exchange of fire that ended with the assailants fleeing the scene.
