Badie and the other Brotherhood members are accused of establishing an operations room to coordinate resistance against police forces during the dispersion of the Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Square sit-ins in August 2013.

Badie, his assistant Mohamed Ghozlan, and 49 others devised a plan to spread chaos, set fire to churches, and break into police stations and citizens’ private properties to give an impression that the government had lost control of Egypt after the June 30 demonstrations.
