An Egyptian police officer was killed on Monday in a shootout during an ambush on a "terrorist cell" that belongs to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood in South of Cairo, the Interior Ministry said.
The shootout led to the killing of officer Mostafa Mohsen and the injury of two suspects.
"The security forces monitored a group of people who belong to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood that is responsible for several acts of violence and that has planned hostile acts against the police in Cairo's district of 15 May," said the ministry's statement.
