The security services arrested 55 Muslim Brotherhood members in eight governorates over charges of creating chaos, inciting violence, possessing weapons, blocking the road in a crackdown that aimed to eliminate outlaws and terrorist hotspots.
Twenty-two were arrested in Minya, 10 in Sharqiya, nine in Giza, four in Matruh, four in Damietta, three in Cairo, two in Beni Suef and one in Ismailia.
The government has cracked down on Brotherhood activities since it declared it a terrorist organization following the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy.
