No, Dear Shaikh

“Build churches in Egypt, or any Muslim country, is permissible unless it had bad effect on the national security” said Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, sheikh of Al-Azhar. I know that there are many other sheikhs who stand by such opinion. However, I tell them that building churches has nothing to do with you, as it belongs to Christians who don’t need you to permit them to build their houses of worship or prevent!

This matter should be organized only by the law, as all Egyptians should have equal right of worship. The countries should be called by its religion no more. God gave freedom for all people to worship him. How much more should it be with states!

Dear sheikhs, I understand you have many responsibilities, that allowing building of churches is not one of them. Why don’t you manage your own business and let Christians manage their own? Furthermore, it’s among your responsibilities to teach young Muslims to manage their own business rather than interfering in others’ businesses.

Dear Sheikhs, churches throughout history had been no threat to national security. Rather, they have always been peacemakers and call to love even the enemies. Moreover, they have always been help to the needy.

Dear Sheikhs, you have to teach Muslims that attaching churches and setting them on fire is extremely bad deed. Teach them that seizing properties of other people and kidnapping their little girls is sin. Accepting and supporting terrorism should be against religion.

You have to teach Muslims that they have no right to reject building churches, and prevent incitement against Christians. You have to control your fatwas and prevent customary reconciliation meetings to start respecting the law.

Last but not least, Egyptian national security starts from curriculum of Al-Azhar whose students terrorize their school and burned it. This has a lot to do with Egyptian national security
