The Cairo University Brotherhood students ended their demonstration on Wednesday. They were protesting the expulsion of their colleagues and the banning of political organizations on campus.
Security personnel opened the main gate of the administration building for the staff to enter after the students stopped protesting.
University spokesperson Adel Abdel Ghaffar said the administration did not yet specify which groups it will ban, adding that only those that engage in partisan activity will be stopped.
Universities, which witnessed a crackdown on student-led political activities under toppled president Hosni Mubarak, turned to battlefields between security services and students affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood upon the ouster of president Mohamed Morsy.
