Dozens of Health Technical Institute graduates Sunday organized a protest outside the Cabinet headquarters on Qasr el-Ainy Street in Downtown Cairo to demand their enrollment in a government nurse institute, Youm7 reported.
Two weeks ago, the private institution’s graduates began sending complaints to the Cabinet to obtain approval to be trained at a State-owned nurse institute for two years so that they could be accepted as nurses at State-owned hospitals.
According to the law, State-owned hospitals do not accept nurses unless they graduate from a State-owned institute, said Youm7 reporter Sara Salah, who is on the scene at the Cabinet monitoring the protests.
Salah said that earlier this morning the graduates gathered outside the Cabinet building and marched to its front gate.
In response to the protests, security forces intervened to disperse the gathering after the demonstrators blocked the road. Security forces used sticks and batons, but no injuries have been reported so far.
However, the gathering remained outside the front gate, and the forces formed a security cordon surrounding the protesters, limiting their movement.
