Monks of ST. Macarius monastery were informed that the government will start the project of the new highway intended to be built inside the monastery next week.
The government had decided to build the road that divides the monastery and destroys the nature reserve which is part of the monastery.
The monks offered different alternatives using Google Earth to carry out the project away from destroying the monastery and threaten the lives of its monks. Yet, the government refused all porposals.
