Father Michael Anton, priest of St. George Church in Arish, Sinai, said that before the revolution of January 25 everything was ok, but it was turned upside-down right after the revolution, and the Copts were displaced from Sheikh Zuwaid.
He added that fanatics have threatened to burn the church after the revolution, but after the dispersal of Rabaa Adawia and Nahda sit-ins, the church was burned and looted. So, Abba Cosman, Bishop of North Sinai, decided to put all the belongings to the burned church in a museum to commemorate such brutal attack.
He explained that the situation in Sinai is so painful and disturbing for the Copts, especially after the killing of Father Mena Aboud and four other martyrs. Yet, imposing royalties and kidnapping the Copts made many of them abandon the city.
