Egypt condemns ‘Israeli attacks’ on Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque

The official spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned reports of the Israeli government’s intention to build 500 housing units in East Jerusalem, describing it as a “severe defiance of International Law and the Geneva Conventions”, according to a foreign ministry statement on Monday.

In the statement, the ministry condemned also the “continuous Israeli violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque, by settlers and Israeli officials”, as well as banning Palestinians the entrance of the mosque.

The ministry added that such measures prevent the Palestinian citizens of their rights as well as aborting all efforts to the “two-state solution” and returning to the 1967 boarders.

The official spokesman of the ministry called upon the international community to condemn the incident and to pressure Israel to immediately cease all violation.

Al-Aqsa Mosque was stormed by Israeli police forces on 13 October, while worshippers were praying.

The Arab League held an emergency meeting in Kuwait on Sunday to discuss a range of regional topics, including the recent “attacks in Jerusalem, especially those on Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
