Ramses Nagar, lawyer of the Coptic Orthodox Church, said that the draft of personal status law, sent by the Ministry of transitional justice today to churches in order to show the notes on, will serve as a lifeline for divorced Copts.
Nagar added that civil marriage allowed in the new law will solve many problems for people who are stuck and can’t get married in the church or can’t obey its strict laws. Additionally, it will prevent the church from being put into a critical situation by forcing her to divorce against its teachings of the holy bible.
