Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese extended thanks on Wednesday to the Holy Synod and priests of the Coptic Orthodox Church over hard work during the past two years.
The pope repeated thanks during his weekly sermon marking the second anniversary of his enthronement.
Earlier, the pope had decided to cancel all celebrations on the occasion.
Tawadros is the 118th Pope of Alexandria, succeeding late Pope Shenouda III as leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church. He took office on November 18, 2012, a fortnight after being selected.
