The Giza Criminal Court sentenced on Monday former parliamentarian and Wasat Party leading figure Essam Sultan to a year's labour for physically and verbally assaulting policemen securing the North Giza Court.
Sultan was also charged with using force against a North Giza Court police officer, hindering the latter from performing his job, disrupting court sessions and deliberately damaging court property.
An Egyptian court sentenced Sultan to a year's hard labour for insulting the judiciary on October 14. He also faced court for the charge of torturing citizens at the pro-Mohamed Mursi Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in last year.
