President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issued a decree that approves raising the military pension by 15 percent, presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef said in a statement Tuesday.
On Dec. 4, Sisi amended some articles of Law No. 90 of 1975 governing the retirement and the pension of military men.
Under the new amendment, the pension will be increased by 15 percent “without maximum limit, instead of 10 percent as planned in Dec,” according to the statement.
The amendment will operate retroactively as for the due pensions since 2007 and will come into force as of Jan.1, 2015, the statement added.
In July 2013, Interim President Adly Mansour had issued presidential decree to raise the military pensions by 10 percent instead of 7.5 percent, al-Borsa website said.
