An electricity pylon which transfers electricity to a power station exploded early Monday in Menufia, an official at the Menufia Electricity Directorate said.
The official told Aswat Masriya that two bombs were planted under the pylon. One of them went off, while the other was defused.
The explosion did not cause a power outage, the official said.
Egypt's electricity grid underwent a number of attacks recently.
In August, Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb said that over 300 acts of vandalising electric pylons have been reported throughout July. The prime minister promised new legislations imposing harsher sanctions for such acts of vandalism.
