Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark See, received today at the papal residence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr. Shawki Allam, Mufti of the Republic, Dr. Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Awqaf, who came to congratulate him on Christmas.
According to a statement issued by the Coptic Orthodox Church, the delegation included, Dr. Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq, former Minister of Awqaf and the Secretary General of Family House, Sheikh Abbas Schumann, agent of Al-Azhar and Dr. Abdul Hai Azab, head of Al-Azhar University, Dr. Mohiuddin Afifi, Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy, and Mr. Mohamed Abdel-Salam legal adviser to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar.
