Dozens of supporters of ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi set tires on fire and blocked roads on Thursday as they clashed with security forces in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
Islamist protesters threw Molotov cocktail at a police post in the Camp Chezar district in central Alexandria. No injures were reported.
Demonstrators used fireworks and set tires on fire on a seafront road in the city.
Elsewhere, protesters in the nearby Mahatet Al-Raml district set alight an armoured vehicle parked on the side of the road.
Once capable of mobilising large crowds, Islamists have now been crushed by a harsh security crackdown since Morsi's ouster in mid-2013, with their street movement largely diminishing.
Egypt's interior ministry said in a statement that around 30 people lobbed fire bombs at a police vehicle in the east of the city. Riot police have dispersed the crowd, and 13 protesters were arrested, the ministry added.
Hundred have been killed, mainly Islamists, and thousands of others rounded up in street violence following Morsi's removal.
