Update: 3 killed, 1 injured from sandstorm
A 70-year-old woman was killed and another was injured Wednesday after a tree fell on them near a school in Menoufia, Youm7 reported. Another woman, 60, was injured in the incident and hospitalized. A 6-month-old was killed after a window fell on her stroller while another 11-year-old boy died after a palm tree fell on him due to the strong winds that hit Egypt Tuesday and Wednesday. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) wanted Sunday that a sandstorm that would blow up from the Egyptian Western Desert with notable decrease of the temperature nationwide. The EMA official told Youm7 that stated that the storm would end Thursday evening. The parents of the infant were walking in Montazah of Alexandria and pushing their daughter’s stroller when a building’s window fell from the strong winds, killing her, Youm7 reported Wednesday. At a primary school in the Delta governorate of Beheira, Kamal Moahmed Abu el-Kheir, 11, was killed after a palm fell on him due to the winds. The Alexandria Port Authority (APA) announced Wednesday the Alexandria and al-Dakhalia inlets are still closed for the second day in a row for the safety of wharves and the ships. The APA announced that the storm blew over the governorate and wind speeds reached 85km/hour, with waves rising five meters. On Wednesday morning heavy rains with lightning and thunder hit Alexandria, with hailstones carpeting the streets.
