Nine alleged ‘takfiri’ militants were killed Monday night in military air strikes in N. Sinai, Youm7 reported, citing anonymous security sources.
Eyewitnesses also told Youm7 that operations lasted the whole night, and included six air strikes on bases targeting Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis Sheikh Zuwayed, Rafah, and the eastern side of Arish.
Eyewitnesses also stated Tuesday that a suicide bomber exploded a vehicle near security locations in the morning in Sheikh Zuwayed.
Egypt had been under high security measures during the past week starting Friday; a number of heads of state and high-level diplomats and business figures were hosted in Sharm el-Sheikh to attend Egypt’s Economic Development Conference EEDC.
