I start today’s article wishing again each and every mother a happy Mother’s Day this was in England –UK- and most of European countries the 2nd Sunday in Mars –this year the 15th of Mars- and happens to be in Egypt on 21st of Mars every year I have no recollection when Americans honour the woman of every family that when she’s dead her children become orphans! True when the father in any family dies too his children become orphans as well, but how many child where denied by their fathers? They could never be denied by their mother! Mothers are so special that even the land you are born in it becomes your “Mother Land or Mother Country”! So to this special woman called Mother I offer my best wishes and respects.
This Week Highlights.
This week was full of events that deserve a full article, but I can not write articles unlimited by time and space to publish and above all my writing skills can not cover all of them, as a human I can forget important events while focusing on a specific event therefore I’ll just mention my view on some of them before focusing on my weekly article. So I would like to salute our Army forces for their continuous efforts fighting terrorism, they captured and demolished 54 new hidden terrorists cell and bases they did a good job securing the Future Egypt conference and in this issue Tunis jumps in the picture with the recent terrorist attack on the museum causing more than 19 deaths and over 17 injured most of them tourists showing clearly the intentions of terrorism targets economy and national income! Poverty will ignite the public dismay to the authorities and troubles starts. The successful regime is the one that brings prosperity to its country not misery!
Another issue I can not start my article without mentioning it not knowing who is right or wrong is Houthies and Yemen those Houthies are to the best of my recollection a Yemen tribe and they were always there, fighting for power! Tribes wanted to be involved in political action and have their say, but now I just see one tribe trying to either monopolise power or section Yemen into north and south! I am not aware of the historical background of all this fights but I know external powers are getting ready to help in the misery of the Arabian Peninsula!
Back to my main issue today accountability!
The attorney general presented this week a police officer as the assassin of an activist that was killed couple of weeks ago it proved is bullets killed Shayma an activist who was part of a ceremony to celebrate the anniversary of the 25 January 2011 revolution! Regardless of the true intentions of this ceremony and stand up without prior authorisation according to the new law governing the demonstrations the important issue is authorities apply the law and no one is above accountability!
I’m not a lawyer neither expert in laws however, from my point of view, as a human I know police officers who secure my life and security, are in a continuous non stop fight with crime that threatens their own life! Criminals will try to kill the police officer if confronted however, police officers are allowed to use force only as self-defence! How can I prosecute a police officer that was facing a gun pointed to him if he shouts first and kills the criminal? However, the case here is different this activist was holding flowers to put in the memorial of revolution martyrs, and the officer was supposed to prevent the demonstration from reaching the Tahrir Square that security forces closed it for security reasons! This officer was supposed to use tear gas not real bullets, who come his bullet killed a person? Even if he did not mount the tear gas properly and it come out a bullet not a tear Gas he was supposed to be shouting upwards not towards the people, even if he did it by mistake or lack of experience or what so ever reason, how can we be sure he was targeting that person and not the bad luck of that person put him/her to the path of that bullet?
Thanks God I’m not a judge, I’ll not have to question this accused officer neither go under his skin to find out the real reasons behind his action, a very difficult task that forces me to respect and salute all free judges who accept this responsibility!
In this issue I’m not with or against that officer, I’m just for the principal of accountability, I’ve seen with my own eyes in the absence of accountability how officers act, moreover how their families, sons or daughters act under the protection of their un-accounted father being an officer! Officers driving opposite sides, breaking all traffic rules this son driving without license or attacking people just because he is the son of a hi profile person! Hi profile people are not just police officers, could be Member of Parliament that by law were above accountability, if a parliamentarian was involved in a crime authorities had to ask the permission of the parliament before dropping his immunity to just question him/her not to talk about charging with any crime!
This era is over, January 25th revolution that removed Mubarak removed and burnet his party and the whole of the parliament was demolished. People of Egypt who revolted on Mubarak, then Morsy revolted as well on all past practises and request accountability! The road map political powers agreed upon expecting a new parliament for accountability; Parliament we risk to have in it infiltrated traitors, Islamists, politicians using religion as a cover up to their real intentions or just terrorists who still undiscovered all they want immunity to act as they like without accountability!
History classified ex-president Jamal Abdul Nasser as a dictator, ex-president Sadat described himself as dictator in an interview and tried to make excuses for his dictatorship actions, non of them was accounted in his life but history accounted their mistakes neglecting many of their well doing practices! So bottom line is sooner or later in your life or after your death you will be accounted, we are all going for judgment when time comes so why not be judged while still alive at least we get the chance of regretting and being forgiven? God forgives if truly regretted your sins why people will not forgive?
This is my main issue today Accountability I want us all to be accounted of our actions so that be can build a better life for our children accountability is not a freedom oppression you are still free to make mistakes but you will be accounted for not just cursed in secret and praised publicly is just be the true you with all you past and future sins!
I rest my case at this point hopping I did made it clear the necessity of accountability may God keep blessing Egypt and Egyptians to built a better future so please God :
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
