Security forces rescue a 30-year-old woman who was attempting to commit suicide Monday in the downtown metro station of Al-Shohadaa, Youm7 reported.
The woman was spotted jumping on the tracks by the train operator who was able to brake in time. Security forces pulled her off the rails, and she shouted that her mother would “beat her.”
A source told al-Bawaba News earlier, that metro movement resumed shortly after rescuing the girl.
Although suicide is very rare in Egypt, a few have committed suicide by jumping in front of trains this year. On Jan. 20 a man committed suicide by jumping in front of a train at the Gamal Abdel Nasser Station downtown. The train movement in the first line of Helwan-el-Marg was suspended for 15 minutes as police recovered the body.
Also, on March 1, a 39-year-old woman committed suicide on the tracks in front of a train at Cairo University station, Youm7 reported.
