A professor at Zagazig University in Sharqia governorate was referred to investigation after a complaint was issued against him by students who accused him of “disrespecting religion,” in particular Christianity, during his lectures, Youm7 reported Thursday.
The professor, a member of the faculty of commerce, allegedly made disparaging remarks towards Christianity which offended a number of students.
Dean of the College Mohammed Gamry told Youm7 that the complaint was being processed, and has been escalated to a formal investigation; the teacher may face punishment including dismissal.
Universities have been implementing stricter security measures since the beginning of the academic year to include students and professors; however the rules were basically focusing on prohibiting political activities.
