In a meeting with the governor of Minya Gen. Salah Ziada, Muslims and Christians of Awr village, agreed to build the church of the Martyrs in a different place in the village on a piece of land that belongs to Samalout diocese.
Magdy Malak, Coptic activist, said the decision made the Copts happy as they hope to build a church on the name of the martyrs of Libya.
A group of extremists demonstrated last Friday against building the new church, which opposes the decision of President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi to build the church.
