Three men were killed while allegedly manufacturing explosive devices inside a house in a Delta village in Sharqia Wednesday evening, Youm7 reported.The house, under construction, collapsed after one bomb detonated. The remains of the three bodies were torn apart.
Sharqia Security Director Fattouh Meligy told Youm7 the three men belong to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Also on Wednesday, a high pressure tower collapsed in another village in Sharqia after four explosive devices detonated beneath it. The bombing was followed by a power cut in some areas.
Two other electric towers were damaged also in Sharqia on its new International Road, which connects several governorates in the same day, according to Youm7.
Technicians are transferring power services from the damaged towers to working ones, as several villages have been in darkness since the bombings, Hamdy Metwally, the head of the eastern region for high pressure, told Youm7.
An explosives factory running secretly was seized in January in Sharqia.
Public utilities and services have been targeted since the 2013 ouster of President Mohamed Morsi, inflicting losses of millions of pounds on the government. Dozens of electric towers, cell phone towers, power transformers, water plants, public buses and other services have been sabotaged.
Although dozens of military and police officers and civilians, aside from the insurgency in North Sinai, have been killed by explosive devices detonating remotely, perpetrators have occasionally fallen victims to their own bombings.
Most recently, a security member at the High Dam Authority in Aswan was badly injured last month after a bomb he was carrying prematurely exploded in Qena, Upper Egypt, according to Youm7.
