Security forces have shot a suspected assailant during an attack on the Imbaba police station in Giza, in which a police officer was injured, Youm7 reported Tuesday.
The injured assailant approached the police station riding a motorbike, parked it on the opposite side of the street and opened random, heavy fire at the personnel securing the station using a rifle, witness Maj. Mohamed el-Hafez, chief of Imbaba Traffic told Youm7.
Security forces stationed on the rooftop of the police station exchanged fire with the assailant and injured him in the arm, stomach and feet. When he was arrested, he told the police that his brother was arrested in the police station; he was then taken to the hospital to receive needed treatment.
The fire exchange resulted in damages to a microbus that was standing outside the police station at the time of the attack.
