The Bedouin Tarabin tribe, one of the biggest extended tribes in Egypt, has attacked suspected hotbeds Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis in southern Rafah of North Sinai, Youm7 reported Monday.
The armed attack was launched in response to the beheading of a 16-year-old boy from Tarabin and fatally shooting another man from other tribe. Many Bedouins that belong to ABM are from tribes such as the Sawarka.
The killing of child and the man came after Tarabin refused to respond to a warning by ABM against dealing with the Egyptian military. The statement, which was distributing among Tarabin people, was published on a Twitter account affiliated to the group.
The death toll among ABM members have not been reported yet. Around 300 members from the Tarabin and other tribes in 120 4WD and trucks participated in their attack on ABM hotbeds in Rafah and Sheikh Zuwayed that are under 11 hours of curfew, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., an anonymous source told Youm7.
The Tarabin published a statement on their attack, announcing their retaliation against the outlawed members for the beheading the boy. The statement says “we announce that slaughtering you is permissible and your bodies would be buried under the earth,” Masrawy website quoted the statement Monday.
