Egyptian Prime Minster Ibrahim Mahlab requested the French Audiovisual Council to halt the broadcasts of pro-Muslim Brotherhood private TV Al Sharq in an official visit to Paris, Youm 7 reported Tuesday.
“We must thank the council of accepting our request to close Rabaa private channel which broadcast anti state programs,” Mahlab said Tuesday.
Earlier this month, the council informed the Fewsat agency which used to rent the Rabaa channel, that it would no longer be able to access the channel from French satellites, which are being managed by the council.
“We stopped allowing the Rabaa channel to air as we recognized it broadcasts materials that incite violence and hatred,” the council stated following its decision.
