Coptic Church received today a delegation of 17 young men and women representing world’s churches councils of 14 different nationalities.
They were welcomed by Abba Yoannis, member of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches, who talked with them about History of the Coptic Church and its establishment and the relationship between Christians and Muslims in Egypt.
The delegation also visited Ahmed al-Tayeb, Sheekh of Al Azhar, in the presence of Dr. Hamdi Zaqzouq, secretary general of the Egyptian Family House.
In the meeting, Tayeb stressed that the youth only has the ability to face the hardline religious discourse. This requires educated and cultured young people to face extremism.
The aim of this visit is to highlight the challenges that face the Egyptian youth at different scales, whether social, political or economic, and how to meet these challenges through cooperation between the Coptic Church and Al-Azhar to help the Egyptian youth.
