Al-Quddusi is a political analyst who supports the Muslim Brotherhood and considers the July 3 military ouster of the first elected president of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi a “coup”.

Since Morsi's ouster, the new military-backed regime has not tolerated criticism or political dissent, often punishing perpetrators with jail sentences.

Also on Tuesday, Al-Shorouk reported that a woman was arrested in Matrouh province for allegedly releasing some 76 balloons with anti-government slogans written on them. Authorities said she was part of the Muslim Brotherhood and claim to have found the marker that she used to write the slogans.
