Ramadan

The gates of Mercy had opened On TV not to talk of Serials and Soaps that flooded the Media meaning all Channels of TV!

This is the official time in Islamic religion to say thank you God for your generosity and give away the due to God portion of your money! I understand that many people will just pay this contribution once a year this is the due time and the easiest way to know how much really you owe GOD! It might be a big sum but it’s just a portion of your real earnings that are many times more and might as well be way more than your real needs, so some, few or many not the point here might as well give away additional sums as they do not really need them for everyday life, and some others might occasionally give away additional sums, the point here is that officially in Islamic Religion a yearly portion due this month at any time called “Zaka”, and the additional sums called “Sadaka” all in all is to be used for humanitarian purposes either food or clothes or health aid to people in need!

Re-iterating what I called earlier Gates Of Mercy we see on TV not just poor people, but people with special needs, mainly people with mental disabilities, neglecting people with view, or hearing disabilities and motion disability (paralysed partial or totally) add to it sick people with Cancer, or Cardiac problems, and again neglecting diabetic patients or Virus C and you name it! Before resuming I know many of those sick people can afford the expenses of treatment or their families and relatives can help in those expenses but my focus here is on POOR POPLE!

If the media, and the country know and knowledge their existence now on Ramadan month do they become rich people after this holly month? Obviously no, but we tend to forget them when we complain about the price of fuel gone up or the price of tomatoes is too high we forget there are families can not afford to buy tomatoes because they did not eat breakfast or lunch and hope someone will give away enough food to get dinner!

I wonder what happens to this Gates of Mercy all round the YEAR? Those poor people who live in inhuman conditions why no one speaks or reminds people of them; this poor people include young children lost their parents -orphans- that for some reason they were never admitted to an orphan care house and had to live in the streets!

The most important aspect about those poor people is as I always pin pointed in different occasions the guy, boy or girl, who never for a single day got the attention of his country to help him/her out of his/her misery how can I expect his/her loyalty to that country?

Let me tell you a simple truth I used to be one of the board of directors of the Antigua and Barbuda Association of Persons with disabilities, this association was for less than a 100 persons of Antigua and Barbuda with disabilities of all kind, was created by Lasely Emmanuel who had a car accident serious enough to leave him totally paralysed so he decided to create that association. And the people of that small society -less that 600 thousand- plus tourists as much as a million / year respected each and every facility requested by the association they did introduce the special parking spots for people with disabilities not poor people just people with special needs the government responded to our demands they excluded cars for disabled people from all parking laws, they did create special lane lines for blind people to find their way crossing the roads or walking on side ways, they were even excluded from waiting lines in different offices for a variety of services they had their special window to pay their dues for electricity and water, those people respected humans and human rights for those people with disabilities? So what about the poor of them in Egypt that they can not afford the price of a hearing aid let aside its associated cost to remain functional and operative like batteries or technical support? If fully health people but old enough to find difficulty to access side walk that become over time like mountains to prevent people from parking their cars on side walks! Solving a problem created huge problem to elderly people accessing side walks not to talk of the amount of stairs up and down just to access a building so that the engineer who designed the building shows creativity this creativity could just be a little yard around the building but to access the dug up yard you go down with stairs, then to enter the building itself you have to go up again, imagine the amount of effort an old woman or man has to go thought it just to show creativity from the engineer! Let aside human rights of poor people with special needs!

This is one aspect of poor people, those are not just poor can not afford their daily bread, or have a decent life in a decent house but as well suffer from a special need blind who needs special means to find his way in and out let aside the right to have a job or source of income, not all people with mental difficulties have just speech problems some need special training to wear their clothes or go to the bathroom and not any one can train them the trainer himself needs a special education to be able to help those people.

Do not forget sick people that I mentioned above Diabetic, Cardiac Problems, Virus C and many more sicknesses that need long lengthy expensive treatment might be more expensive than Cancer that is offered for free! 

Poor people is a huge big problem by itself add to it the special needs matters get complicated even more, I do not have the magic solution for any of the problems I tried to expose here I’m just reminding people not to forget those different type of people who were mentioned in the Gates of Mercy or those overseen and neglected may we all Egyptians in this special month of Ramadan start caring of each other have mercy on each other for a better tomorrow for all of us may God keep blessing Egypt and Egyptians and peace of the Lord upon all of us!
