The Zagazig Criminal Court in Sharqiya has sentenced 47 members and supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood to periods ranging between three and 15 years in prison on charges of violence in seven different cases.
There were 15 people sentenced to 15 years in prison, 13 to five years and 19 people to three years.
The court will issue a verdict on July 30 for 31 others accused of violence in the Abu Hammad village.
The 78 defendants are charged with joining a terrorist group, breaching the protest law, possessing seditious leaflets and firearms, resisting the authorities, disrupting traffic and damaging public and private property.
