After long debate with homosexuals, United States of America has legalized same-sex marriage. Such marriage is not acceptable by most Muslims, Christians and Jews; however, passing a law for gay marriage in America was easier than passing a unified law for building houses of worship in Egypt.
For years, Coptic Christians have been suffering discrimination based on religion in their own country. They faced several hardships each time they decide to build a new church. Such suffering is likely to last for years before they are able to build a new church and perform their prayers.
Copts have also demanded equal religious rights for all Egyptians and the establishment of an anti-discrimination law that would criminalizes any form of discrimination and ensure equality in rights, duties and opportunities. Of course, such laws were hindered and postponed by successive governments. This was also encouraged by Egyptian fanatics who think that such equality is but a threat for Islam. They have to continue persecuting Christians in the name of Allah in order to please their God and get His blessings!
On June 26, 2015, the United States became the twenty-first and most populous country to legalize same-sex marriage after the movement to obtain civil marriage rights and benefits for same-sex couples in the United States began in the 1970s. However, Copts are living in Egypt since the beginning of Christianity more than 2000 years ago; they are not able to obtain their rights in building Churches! Indeed, Copts are not like the gays of the United States.
