The administrative boards of the ancient mosques will be changedstarting from Tuesday, aiming at developing the administration systems to suit the mosque’s conditions, Endowment Minister Mokhtar Gomaa announced in an official Statement Sunday.
He mentioned five big mosques to have their administrations changed this week: The Mosque of Amr ibn al-As, Omar Makram Mosque, Salah Eddine Mosque in Manial, Al-Sayeda Zeinab Mosque and Al-Sayeda Nafisa Mosque, Youm7 reported Sunday.
“An administrative and maintenance company will be established to be responsible for guarding, maintenance, cleaning and administrative affairs of all the big and ancient mosques around the country,” Gomaa added.
The minister stressed on that the ministry will manage preaching in the mosques
Egypt issued a decree in 2014 banning unauthorized preachers from delivering sermons or teaching Islam at mosques and public places in an effort to curb radical Islamist influence and politicized sermons. However, some licensed preachers have also been suspended for delivering sermons that the ministry did not approve
