The Supreme Electoral Commission (SEC) has decided to form a permanent committee to record and update voters’ data, according to a Tuesday statement by the council.
The committee will be responsible for updating voters’ database until they are invited to vote.
The dates for the parliamentary elections are yet to be confirmed, although Minister of Transitional Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ibrahim El-Heneidi expects they will be held in September.
The elections were supposed to take place in March, but were further postponed pending revision over the constitutionality of certain articles in the electoral laws.
The law dividing the electoral districts was approved by the Presidency earlier in July.
The SEC decided last Saturday to form sub-committees to monitor media coverage of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
