Twenty-eight people were hospitalised due to heat exhaustion on Saturday after a wave of hot weather, Egypt's Ministry of Health stated.
According to the Ministry statement, 28 people were taken to local hospitals on Saturday due to heat exhaustion, while one additional patient was treated at home.
According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, Egypt saw a high of 38 degrees Celsius in Cairo on Sunday, 34 degrees in the coastal city of Alexandria, and 40 and 39 degrees in the cities of Ismailia and Suez respectively.
Temperatures on the Red Sea were even higher, with mercury hitting 43 degrees in Sharm El-Sheikh and 44 in Hurghada.
