I had a good friend called Refaat Ayoub who died last week. He worked as employee at local unit in Ashmant, Naser Center, Beni Suef. He was loved by all for his good attributes and honesty. He rarely got a day off, and always worked for the good of the people even if they didn’t care that much for their own interests. He was dreaming for better future of Egypt.
I was shocked to hear about his death since he didn’t suffer from severe illness before. However, the story of his death was more shocking to me. The man suffered for 4 years before he breath his last. He had a clot in the brain, but he was not accepted in any public hospital since all intensive care rooms were full. His family searched in 17 public hospitals for 4 hours begging them to accept the man but no empty place was to be found.
The man died in the microbus searching for an empty room in public hospital for 4 hours, after he spent his entire life serving in a public facility. Is this how Egypt rewards the honest employees?
I didn’t expect that health is too bad in Egypt like that. The president and all officials should be responsible for such negligence. This man should have lived to raise his children instead of dying on the door of crowded hospital. Our health system needs another revolution to save more and more poor victims. May God repose his soul and offer condolences to his family.
